Understanding Life's Cycles through the Wheel of Fortune

Published on: 23rd April, 2026

The Wheel of Fortune card embodies the profound concept that life unfolds in cyclical patterns, a notion deeply rooted in both astrology and philosophy. This card, associated with the expansive planet Jupiter, signifies growth, opportunity, and the ever-changing nature of fortune. The imagery of the wheel itself encapsulates the ancient idea of the Wheel of Fate, reflecting humanity's journey through cycles of ascendance, decline, and renewal. The accompanying symbols, including the four fixed signs of the zodiac, evoke the stability that underpins the cosmos, reminding us that while fortune waxes and wanes, our awareness of these cycles fosters resilience and gratitude. Ultimately, the Wheel of Fortune serves as a poignant reminder that understanding life's inherent fluctuations can lead to a more profound appreciation of both success and adversity. The discussion centers upon the profound implications of the Wheel of Fortune card, a pivotal symbol in both astrology and philosophical thought, which encapsulates the notion of life as a cyclical journey. This card is intimately linked to the expansive planet Jupiter, long revered as the harbinger of growth, opportunity, and prosperity. The speaker eloquently elucidates how ancient astrologers referred to Jupiter as the Greater Benefit, a testament to its perceived ability to foster abundance and wisdom. The visual representation of the Wheel of Fortune, particularly in the Rider Waite tarot imagery, conveys the essence of the Wheel of Fate, a concept prevalent in various civilizations, from the philosophical schools of ancient Greece to the spiritual traditions of India, which posited that human existence unfolds through repetitive cycles of ascendance, decline, and eventual renewal. The intricate symbolism of the Wheel is further explored, with the letters T A R O embedded within its design, which can be rearranged to form the Latin word rota, signifying wheel. This clever juxtaposition emphasizes the principle of cyclical motion inherent in the card's meaning. Surrounding the wheel are the four winged creatures—representing the fixed signs of the zodiac: Leo, Scorpio, Taurus, and Aquarius—which embody stability and the sustaining energies of the cosmos. The speaker articulates that Jupiter's astrological role is to amplify whatever it encounters, suggesting that its transits often herald opportunities for growth and enlightenment. However, the narrative takes a poignant turn as it highlights the inherent transience of fortune, embodied by the wheel's perpetual rise and fall, reminding us that life is characterized by phases of gain and loss, success and adversity. Ultimately, the episode conveys a deeper lesson about awareness and detachment. By comprehending that existence is a series of cycles, we can cultivate a perspective that tempers our attachment to fleeting circumstances. Success transforms into a moment for gratitude, while challenges are viewed as integral stages in our broader journey of development. The speaker concludes with a profound reminder to remain steadfast in one's own truth, encouraging listeners to embrace the cyclical nature of life with resilience and insight.

Speaker A:

If you wish to know anything more, I am going to talk about the Wheel of Fortune card the Wheel of Fortune represents one of the most powerful ideas in both astrology and philosophy, the idea that life moves in cycles.

Speaker A:

In traditional astrology, this card corresponds to the expansive planet Jupiter.

Speaker A:

Jupiter has long been known as the planet of growth, opportunity, and fortune.

Speaker A:

Ancient astrologers even referred to Jupiter as the Greater Benefit because its influence was believed to bring prosperity and wisdom and expansion.

Speaker A:

In the Rider Waite imagery, the central symbol is a giant turning wheel.

Speaker A:

This wheel reflects an ancient philosophical concept known as the Wheel of Fate.

Speaker A:

Civilizations from Greece to India believed that human life moves through repeating cycles of rise, decline and renewal.

Speaker A:

The wheel itself contains several symbolic T A R O.

Speaker A:

These letters can be rearranged to form several words, including rota R O T A, which means wheel in Latin.

Speaker A:

This clever design reinforces the central idea of rotation and cyclic movement.

Speaker A:

Around the wheel appear four winged creatures, the lion and eagle and bull and human figure.

Speaker A:

These correspond to the four fixed signs of the zodiac, which are Leo and Scorpio and Taurus and Aquarius.

Speaker A:

In astrology, the fixed signs represent stability and the sustaining forces of the cosmos.

Speaker A:

Jupiter's role in astrology is to expand whatever it touches.

Speaker A:

Whenever Jupiter transits through an area of life, opportunities often appear for growth, learning, or advancement.

Speaker A:

But the Wheel of Fortune reminds us that fortune is rarely static.

Speaker A:

Just as the wheel rises and falls, life moves through phases of gain and loss, success and challenge.

Speaker A:

The deeper lesson of the wheel is awareness.

Speaker A:

When we understand that life moves through cycles, we become less attached to temporary conditions.

Speaker A:

Success becomes an opportunity for gratitude, while difficulty becomes a stage in the larger process of growth.

Speaker A:

As always, remember to stand in your own truth.

PAUL HEATH

I am Paul. When I reflect back on my life, I was always interested in astrology. I would read my daily horoscope in the newspaper every day and often wonder, “how do they know?”
One day I was told I am a “cusp of beauty”, because my birthday was the last day of Virgo. I went home to research what cusp of beauty meant. My curiosity soared when finding out the meaning. I didn’t realize that I had just begun the journey of “Know Thyself.”
Learning how to read my natal chart I acquired the skills to assist others with deciphering their own chart-energy. Astrology has helped me understand and accept me for who I am. Although still work in progress, knowing about myself is surely making the process easier. I enjoy helping others (Virgo Sun) with the information I have gathered (Gemini Rising) that will help transform lives (Scorpio Moon) in a positive way.
I look forward to meeting and working with you as we embark on your journey.
