The Energy Tax: The Hidden Costs of Inauthenticity

Published on: 22nd February, 2026

You can go to jail for not paying your taxes. Ask Al Capone. But what about the tax you've been paying your whole life that nobody ever named? Every time you held back your real opinion. Every time you laughed at something that wasn't funny. Every time you adjusted yourself to fit a room. That's the energy tax — and you've been paying it to people you don't even owe. In this episode we break down the highest conservation of energy state you can operate in, why authenticity is actually the most efficient way to live, and why stopping the payments means being okay with people being angry and losing people who were never really yours to keep. Your homework is in here too.

Takeaways:

  1. Authenticity serves as the highest conservation of energy state one can achieve.
  2. The energy tax is the cost of suppressing one's true self in social interactions.
  3. Choosing to be authentic may result in losing relationships that were based on inauthenticity.
  4. Evolving into one's true self often necessitates accepting the discomfort of others' anger.
  5. Suppressing one's truth leads to chronic internal struggles and a disconnection from self.
  6. The freedom to be oneself can only be attained by relinquishing the obligation to please others.

Speaker A:

Jesus said, pay unto Caesar what is Caesar's.

Speaker A:

But he never said, pay an energy tax to anyone.

Speaker A:

In America, you can go to jail if you don't pay your taxes.

Speaker A:

Look at Al Capone.

Speaker A:

Look at Martha Stewart.

Speaker A:

Shout out to Wesley Snipes, the government will come get your ass.

Speaker A:

But what about the energy tax?

Speaker A:

And I'm not talking about the tax you pay when you fill up your tank or you cut your lights on.

Speaker A:

I'm talking about something you've been paying your whole life that nobody ever put a name to.

Speaker A:

What prison do you put yourself in when you keep paying tax bills to people you don't even owe?

Speaker A:

And that's what this is all about.

Speaker A:

Being yourself is the highest conservation of energy state you can operate in.

Speaker A:

Everything else, you're paying a tax.

Speaker A:

Here's what most people don't realize.

Speaker A:

It takes more energy to not be yourself than to be yourself.

Speaker A:

When you suppress who you are in a conversation, your System is running two programs at once.

Speaker A:

Operating System 1 is the real you.

Speaker A:

Operating System 2 is the version of you designed to keep the peace.

Speaker A:

And Operating System 2 is the energy hall.

Speaker A:

Constantly scanning, filtering every word, monitoring every reaction, adjusting your tone, softening your truth, managing someone else's comfort.

Speaker A:

That's background programming.

Speaker A:

That background programming.

Speaker A:

That's expensive.

Speaker A:

You're burning energy to maintain the performance.

Speaker A:

Think about your phone, having 50 apps open in the background with your brightness all the way up.

Speaker A:

You're at 10% battery by noon and you don't even know why.

Speaker A:

That's what inauthenticity does to your system.

Speaker A:

Being yourself shuts down operating system, too.

Speaker A:

No editing layer, no Persona management, just you.

Speaker A:

And that's efficient.

Speaker A:

What comes to my mind?

Speaker A:

Taxation without representation.

Speaker A:

The Boston Tea Party.

Speaker A:

The colonists were being taxed by an authority they never consented to for a bill they never agreed to.

Speaker A:

And at some point they said, enough is enough, and they went to the harbor and dumped that shit in the water.

Speaker A:

Dump that shit.

Speaker A:

Dump that shit.

Speaker A:

That's what authenticity actually is.

Speaker A:

A revolt against a tax system you never signed up for.

Speaker A:

It's easier to be yourself and let everyone else adjust to you than you go around constantly adjusting yourself to everyone else.

Speaker A:

The math is simple.

Speaker A:

You are one person.

Speaker A:

There are many.

Speaker A:

But you're doing all the work.

Speaker A:

But here's why most people suck.

Speaker A:

Because to do it, to actually live this way, you have to be okay with people being angry with you.

Speaker A:

You have to be okay with losing people.

Speaker A:

Most people aren't afraid to be themselves.

Speaker A:

They're afraid of the consequences that come with being themselves.

Speaker A:

The British were furious at the colonists.

Speaker A:

Some colonists were loyalists.

Speaker A:

Look at them.

Speaker A:

Traitors over there.

Speaker A:

They chose the crown over freedom.

Speaker A:

They lost those people too.

Speaker A:

And America still got built on their back.

Speaker A:

When you stop adjusting yourself to fit every room, some rooms stop inviting you.

Speaker A:

Some relationships with were built on the version of you that was accommodating.

Speaker A:

When that version retires, some of those connections retire with it.

Speaker A:

That's not a loss, that's structural correction.

Speaker A:

If a friendship can't handle your truth, the friendship was a debt you were paying, not an asset you were holding.

Speaker A:

The real question you either pay now externally, through friction, discomfort, someone being mad and someone leaving, or your pain continuously, internally, through suppression, exhaustion, resentment, a slow disconnection from yourself.

Speaker A:

One is sharp and occasional, sometimes the other is chronic and draining.

Speaker A:

Can lead to sickness.

Speaker A:

Most people choose the internal tap because they feel fear losing people more than they value their own peace and they spend their whole life in a prison they built themselves, paying a bill they never owed.

Speaker A:

Tarot360 Astrology always says PI perception is everything.

Speaker A:

Now we all saw the movie or heard about the movie.

Speaker A:

The whole world accepted the narrative, the greatest love story ever told.

Speaker A:

But if you actually look at it, the Titanic movie that's supposed to be the great love story.

Speaker A:

That woman cheated on her fiance with a stranger she knew for 72 hours and he lost his life for that floozy.

Speaker A:

Most people felt that, but kept it to themselves because going along with the cultural consensus costs less in a moment.

Speaker A:

That's energy tax in real time.

Speaker A:

You suppress the actual read to avoid the friction of saying it.

Speaker A:

Multiply that by every conversation you ever had, every room you ever sat in and stayed quiet every time you nodded when you disagreed.

Speaker A:

That's lifetimes of payments.

Speaker A:

Now your assignment.

Speaker A:

You know I give homework.

Speaker A:

Pick one conversation today where you normally adjust yourself and don't stay level.

Speaker A:

Don't laugh at that joke that ain't funny.

Speaker A:

Don't agree with that.

Speaker A:

Take you hate.

Speaker A:

Just stay level and watch what happens.

Speaker A:

Watch them adjust to you and then feel how much energy you have left at the end of that conversation.

Speaker A:

That's your homework.

Speaker A:

You cannot go to jail for not paying an energy tax, but you can spend your whole life in prison by paying it.

Speaker A:

Know what you owe and know what you don't owe or you'll find yourself bankrupt.

PAUL HEATH

I am Paul. When I reflect back on my life, I was always interested in astrology. I would read my daily horoscope in the newspaper every day and often wonder, “how do they know?”
One day I was told I am a “cusp of beauty”, because my birthday was the last day of Virgo. I went home to research what cusp of beauty meant. My curiosity soared when finding out the meaning. I didn’t realize that I had just begun the journey of “Know Thyself.”
Learning how to read my natal chart I acquired the skills to assist others with deciphering their own chart-energy. Astrology has helped me understand and accept me for who I am. Although still work in progress, knowing about myself is surely making the process easier. I enjoy helping others (Virgo Sun) with the information I have gathered (Gemini Rising) that will help transform lives (Scorpio Moon) in a positive way.
I look forward to meeting and working with you as we embark on your journey.
